This Burris Signature HD spotting scope review is designed to outline and detail the specs, features, and uses of the scope to help you decide if it’s right for you and your specific needs.

So, let’s dive in.

Burris Signature HD Spotting Scope Review

There are a plethora (yes…plethora) of spotting scopes on the market, but the Burris Signature HD spotting scope stands apart for a slew of reasons. If you’re a serious hunter, you know the importance of reliable optics. Crisp visuals, durability, and adaptability offered by good optics provide an advantage not possible by mediocre glass.

Spotting Scopes in Hunting

If you do any kind of long-range scouting, you know how hard it can be to pick a whitetail, mule deer, or elk out of a patch of dense timber. The difficulty increases exponentially when trying to do it with sub-par optics, even when watching field-edge scrapes from a few hundred yards away.

To be successful in the woods, it’s important to have quality glass that absorbs plenty of light in low-light conditions, offers plenty field-of-view, doesn’t weigh you down too much, and stands up to the elements without fogging up or taking on water. Let’s break down the Signature HD to see how it measures up.

Specs at a Glance

  • Magnification: 20-60x85mm
  • Field of View: 117-60 feet
  • Eye Relief: 20-18mm
  • Length: 15.3 inches
  • Weight: 67.2 ounces

Features & Benefits

Premium HD Glass: The Burris Signature HD spotting scope is built with premium HD glass that offers optimum resolution. This is pivotal in ensuring maximum light transmission under any lighting condition, which is a huge benefit with most big game hunting that takes place early morning and late evening.

The index-matched lenses stand out by eliminating chromatic aberrations (unwanted colors outlining objects in view), producing true color fidelity across the visible spectrum. So, what does all that optics gibberish mean? With lower quality glass, you may notice certain colors, such as purple, outlining objects in view. With the Burris Signature HD, the high-quality glass eliminates those aberrations, allowing you to see the true colors of the animals you’re looking at.

FastFire Red Dot Sight Attachment: This feature provides an incredibly fast, accurate way to acquire your target. If you’ve ever felt lost while magnifying down the field, this attachment is the solution to that problem. The Burris Signature HD spotting scope has two attachment points on either side for mounting it. It’s important to note that the FastFire is sold separately, so you have to decide if it’s worth the added cost.

Neoprene Cover: The spotting scope comes with a thick neoprene cover, custom-fitted to the Signature HD. The totally awesome thing about this cover is that the design incorporates removable lens covers and openings that allow you to fully utilize the scope without removing the cover. Plus, there are attachment points for the included carry strap.

Optional Eyepiece and Argon Gas Purging: There is an optional fixed power 30x eyepiece available that provides even more range, detail, and a broader field-of-view. You can choose between SCR Mil and SCR MOA reticles, and they’re extremely easy to install.

Also, the Burris Signature HD spotting scope has argon gas purging, ensuring it remains waterproof and fog-proof under extreme temperatures and bad weather.

User-Friendly Design Features: A built-in sunshade reduces glare and safeguards the objective lens from the elements. Both coarse and fine focusing adjustments are possible due to the forward-mounted focus knob. If you wear glasses, the adjustable eyecup is extremely useful. Constructed with a durable, die-cast magnesium body, the Burris Signature HD spotting scope is armored for greater field protection. And the angled eyepiece and rotating tripod mount make it convenient to use, whether standing next to a bean field or lying prone across the cab of a truck.

Drawbacks to Consider:
While the Burris Signature HD spotting scope offers a ton of benefits, it’s essential to consider its weight. At 67.2 ounces, some may find it slightly on the heavier side. Also, while the FastFire red dot sight is an excellent feature, it’s worth noting that it’s sold separately, which might be a deal breaker for some who.

Now, a Burris Signature HD spotting scope review wouldn’t be complete without a Pros and Cons list, so let’s take a look at how this scope pans out.

What I Like Best

There’s a lot to like about the Burris Signature HD spotting scope, but one of the features I like best is its ability to accept a FastFire Red Dot sight, which is unique to most spotting scopes.

I also love how you can keep it protected inside the cover while still being able to use it. If you’re like me and basically destroy everything you own, I’m sure that feature speaks to you too.

Obviously the argon purging, index-matched, premium glass, and tough magnesium body are huge selling points too.

Final Thoughts

The Burris Signature HD spotting scope is a blend of technical and thoughtful design. From its premium HD glass to its user-centric features, it’s clear that this scope was made with real hunters’ needs in mind. While it does have a few drawbacks, the benefits far outweigh them. So, if you’re on the hunt for a spotting scope that delivers clarity, durability, and adaptability, the Burris Signature HD might be the right one for you.
